Jose and JooLee were married at Stanford Memorial Church in Palo Alto. It was such a beautiful setting! The onset of fall colors added to the beauty of the day. This was a very small and intimate wedding. I was very happy to photograph it.
Jose and his groomsmen showed up shortly after I did. They were greeted by JooLee’s bridesmaid with a plethora of Chinese culinary trials. The men had to sample each one of them before they are allowed to see JooLee! It was funny to see their expressions and the reaction from the parents.
After the tea ceremony, we went to Stanford Memorial Church where JooLee changed into her western bridal gown.
The mood inside the church was full of anticipation as the guest gathered together for what was to come.
If you’ve never been inside the church at Stanford, you really owe it to yourself to come have a look. It is just magnificent! I always feel so privileged to be able to photograph here.
There is something very traditional and magical about the columns that line the walkway of Stanford University. I love this image of the newly married couple walking down this path like so many other couples before them.
The reception was intimate, with only close friends and family. The reception is one of my favorite parts of the wedding day to photograph. I love capturing moments and connections between people during this time. It’s the moments between people who are reconnecting and the moments between people who are very dear. They are uncontrived. The emotions you see are real. It is the captured little moments that I am really proud of. I feel a sense of duty to capture these little moments for my clients so that they can reflect back upon this day and remember. When I first met Jose back in July, he had told me that of all the wedding pictures that I will take, there will probably be about five that he will truly cherish. Though I take hundreds of pictures during the day, I understand what he means by that. It is those pictures that speaks to you and the memories that it captures that will stay with you for a lifetime. I hope Jose finds his five amongst these pictures.
